Solid Metal 100 times lighter than styrofoam

Researchers at UC Irvine CA have developed metal micro lattice that have potentially revolutionary uses in battery technology and in building automobiles that will be structurally sound yet very efficient since weight can be significantly reduced without negative impact on safety. Its very interesting that the article points out that researchers were able to “make a material that consists of 99.99 percent air and .01 percent solid at the nanometer, micro and millimeter scales.”
