Open Garden

Open Garden has developed a way that people with smartphones will be able to share bandwidth on wifi data connections of other cell phones with the Open Garden app, very similar concept to bit torrent file sharing utilizing a network of computers. This will create a mesh network from the power of individual cell phones that will increase bandwidth and lower transmission power requirements.

Technology review reported in an article written by Ted Greenwald,TR10 May/Jun 2012 edition in their lists of 10 Emerging Technologies “Facebook’s data warehouse was adding 625,000 terabytes of compressed data daily by last January”. I find this an amazing amount of information based on the fact this what is the “daily” amount.If Moore’s Law holds true this huge amount of personal data is only going to get more larger going forward.
At the end of the day all this information will create a highly detailed digital autobiography of our personal lives whether information is shared or unfortunately not shared.
